Blackstars wallops Kotoko in a friendly
Blackstars of Ghana defeated Kumasi Asante Kotoko 3-0 in a friendly played at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Goals from Abdul Majid in the 21st minute, Emmanuel Boateng 47minute, and Christian Atsu in the 55th minute ensured the stars were victors on the day.
The stars were scheduled to play Sierra Leone in a double header for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, but the match was cancelled due to an impasse between the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA)and their government.
Sierra Leonean government failed to meet a Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) deadline on Tuesday October 9, to reinstate their Football Association President Isha Johansen and General Secretary Christopher Camara who was removed from office by the country's anti-corruption agency.
A statement released by CAF Twitter handle on Tuesday evening read "AFCON Qualifier matches Ghana vs Sierra Leone & Sierra Leone vs Ghana on the 11th and 14th of October respectively have been cancelled as SLFA did not meet the conditions stipulated in the letter sent by CAF on FIFA’s decision to suspend the federation".
Ghana's other opponents in group F, Ethiopia and Kenya drew 0-0 on Wednesday with the return leg to be played on Sunday, in Nairobi.
